The author of this book is the former editor of the magazine *Nabanur* and the pioneer of publishing Eid specials (*Eadsankhya*) in Bangladesh, Syed Emdad Ali (1875–1956). In this book, he beautifully narrates how a poor slave-girl from Basra, Iraq, overcame sorrows and dangers to reach the pinnacle of knowledge and wisdom, and achieved spiritual realization through the meditation and devotion of the Creator to become world-famous. Alongside this, he briefly discusses the origin and development of Sufi philosophy in Islam in this book. This brief discussion also analyzes questions regarding spiritual practice, the human soul, love, sacrifice, and the search for God. According to the table of contents, the book is organized into two parts—the first part covers the biography, and the second part deals with Sufism. The book was first published in 1917 AD.
